The day my fiance proposed, my best friend told me, “your engagement ring will never be this clean.” She was right.
Between lotions and every day wear, your engagement ring is bound to get pretty dirty.
You’ll definitely want to make sure your ring is super clean for your wedding day. Photographers use macro lenses when doing your ring detail shots and you can literally see every spec of dust and even teeny fibers.
Here are my top 3 ways to get that diamond sparkling again!
1. Deep Clean: Take your ring to the jeweler/store your fiance purchased it from. They’ll be able to give it the BEST deep clean! Try to stay away from other jewelry stores because I’ve heard horror stories of shady jewelers swapping out the diamond while they’re cleaning a ring! Maybe I’m just paranoid, but better be safe than sorry!
2. At Home: Use warm water and windex. Let your ring soak for about 15 minutes. Take it out and scrub with a gentle tooth brush. Make sure to get all angles… even under the setting. Rinse and dry! If your ring still looks a little dirty, repeat the process.
3. Maintain: The Gem Pen from The Mrs. Box is seriously amazing. I bring it to all my shoots and weddings and use it on my own ring weekly. I don’t know what’s in it but it works. Seriously. Just click it and use the little brush to get in all the tiny crevices!
